Union County Roads to Receive Improvements

MONROEMore than 17 miles of roads across Union County will be resurfaced soon, thanks to a $5.4 million N.C. Department of Transportation contract earned last month by TrueRock Construction, LLC of Monroe.

The contract calls for a section of N.C. 205 to be resurfaced between Olive Branch Road and Ansonville Road, and for road shoulders to be rebuilt.

Nine sections of secondary roads are also planned for improvement as follows:

  • Ansonville Road between Lanesboro Road and Marshville – Olive Branch Road
  • New Salem Road from N.C. 200 to Rilla Hamilton Road
  • Olive Branch Road from N.C. 205 to Marshville – Olive Branch Road
  • New Hope Church Road from N.C. 205 to Haigler Gin Road
  • Sincerity Road between N.C. 200 and New Salem Road
  • Sugar and Wine Road between New Salem Road and New Hope Church Road
  • Zion Church Road from State Line Road to Canal Road, and from Smith Town Road to the end of state maintenance
The contractor can start at the end of April and complete all resurfacing maps by fall 2027. Most lane closures will be permitted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the week. Restrictions will also be in place for holidays and holiday weekends.
