RALEIGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close a section of Western Boulevard and one Interstate 440 ramp as part of the I-440 improvement project.
Eastbound Western Boulevard, and the ramp from I-440 West to Western Boulevard East will be closed due to construction at the interstate from 10:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.
Motorists will use I-440 East, Melbourne Road and I-440 West as a detour.
If work isn't completed, another closure at the same location will occur during the same time beginning Sunday night, weather permitting.
Drivers are urged to use caution and allow extra travel time while traveling through the work zone.
