WINSTON-SALEM – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin alternating lane closures on a section of Interstate 74 East next week.
One lane of I-74 East from before Ridgewood Road (Exit 56) to Union Cross Road (Exit 59) will be closed starting Monday and lasting through April 17. Crews plan to initially close the right lane starting at 7 a.m. Monday. Crews will alternate the lane closures throughout the week.
The work is necessary to allow crews to switch to the new alignment as part of the construction of the eastern section of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway.
These alternating lane closures are expected to cause delays for motorists, especially during their commute, so they should plan ahead and follow all posted signs while traveling through the work zone.
