EDEN – A Rockingham County road will close for about three months while contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation construct a roundabout.
APAC Atlantic Inc., of Greensboro, was awarded a $4.3 million contract to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Boone Road, Bridge Street and Washington Street.
As roundabout construction begins, a stretch of Boone Road near the intersection will close beginning at 9 a.m. on April 27, weather permitting. This section of Boone Road is expected to reopen in late July.
During this closure, traffic will be detoured via Bridge Street, West Kings Highway, South Van Buren Road, West Stadium Drive and West Meadow Road.
Drivers should be mindful of crews working in the area and allow extra time to reach their destination.
Additional road closures will be necessary throughout roundabout construction. The completed roundabout is expected to open in late 2027.
