MOORESVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will open an Iredell County intersection with a new alignment next week.
NCDOT required developer M/I Homes, of Charlotte, to realign the Rinehardt Road and N.C. 150 intersection in November to mitigate increased traffic from a housing development that’s currently under construction.
Beginning Monday, drivers will use Cambrey Pointe Drive to travel between N.C. 150 and Rinehardt Road. The extension road meets N.C. 150 at a 90-degree angle, improving safety and sight distance for drivers.
“We’re grateful for their work over the last five months,” said Jonathan Barnette, NCDOT’s district engineer for Iredell and Alexander counties. “Working with M/I Homes, we’ve identified a solution that will allow more families to call Mooresville home while improving safety for drivers at a busy intersection.”
Crews installed message boards alerting drivers to the new alignment last week.
