BOONE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will place permanent pavement markings on a Watauga County road next week.
Crews will install pavement markings at the southern intersection of Old Shulls Mill Road and N.C. 105 on Tuesday, weather permitting.
The contractor may temporarily close or narrow a lane of traffic on both N.C. 105 and Old Shulls Mill Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to ensure the safety of crews and motorists.
This is one of the last steps needed to finish realigning Old Shulls Mill Road to meet N.C. 105 at a 90-degree angle, improving sight distance for drivers.
Transportation officials encourage drivers to allow additional travel time and exercise caution in the work zone.
