CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation is continuing a $6.8 million project to build two single-lane roundabouts at Oakdale/Miranda/Simpson roads and Oakdale/Sunset/Miranda roads in northwest Charlotte. Two road closures are scheduled for this week to complete the next phase of work.
Monroe contractor TrueRock Construction LLC will temporarily close Oakdale Road April 23, 24, and 25 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to install sewer and stormwater lines. Each night, traffic will detour from Interstate 485 to Lawing Road to Kelly Road, returning to Oakdale Road. Drivers needing access to I-485 will follow the detour in reverse. If needed, the closures will be extended to April 26 and 27 to complete the installation.
The second closure will occur on Miranda Road April 26 and 27 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., allowing crews to safely install a pipe for a waterline. A detour will take drivers from Miranda Road to Beatties Ford Road, Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, and Oakdale Road.
The roadway portion of the project is anticipated to be complete by summer 2027. Other items like landscaping and vegetation establishment can continue into 2028.
