ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will reopen a driver license office in East Asheville on May 4.
The former Asheville Express office, located at 600 Tunnel Rd., temporarily closed in August 2024 for scheduled maintenance and upgrades, and indefinitely closed in September 2024 after Tropical Storm Helene devastated portions of Asheville and surrounding areas.
Office hours will be Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The office will provide driver license and ID services including initial issuances, duplicates and renewals, knowledge testing, and REAL IDs.
The East Asheville office will not conduct road skills or motorcycle testing. Those services are available at the West Asheville Driver License Office located at 1624 Patton Ave.
