WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH – The N.C. Department of Transportation will conduct intermittent lane closures on a portion of U.S. 74 (Salisbury Street) over Banks Channel beginning this week.
As part of the Wrightsville Beach bridge replacement project, contract crews will perform drilling operations through the bridge deck for testing beginning April 28. This work will require intermittent lane closures on the Salisbury Street bridge located between Lookout Harbor and Lagoon Drive.
Lane closures will be in place 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with active flagging operations to direct traffic. Pedestrians will be detoured to the north side of the bridge. Work is expected to take about three weeks.
Drivers should use caution when crossing the bridge and allow extra travel time.
