NEW BERN – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a Craven County road for two days next week as construction continues for the N.C. 43 Connector, which will link U.S. 17 Business to U.S. 70.
Myrtle Grove Road will be closed near the intersection with Trent Creek Road from 7 a.m. May 4 until 7 p.m. May 5. During this closure, crews will begin relocating existing utilities for the project. Trent Creek Road will remain open to traffic; however, access to Myrtle Grove Road from Trent Creek Road will not be available.
A signed detour will guide drivers from Trent Creek Road to Shadow Brook Lane to Myrtle Grove Road. Motorists should allow extra travel time and reduce speed when approaching the work zone.
The N.C. 43 Connector will extend N.C. 43 approximately 2.4 miles from U.S. 70 to U.S. 17 Business, improving regional access, reducing travel time and supporting economic growth. The project is expected to be complete in early 2029.
