RONDA – The N.C. Department of Transportation will replace a Wilkes County bridge over the next several weeks.
Crews will close Little Elkin Church Road near Little Elkin Creek on Tuesday to begin removal of the existing structure.
The new timber bridge with concrete abutments will have no weight limits for vehicles traveling over the creek.
Drivers will follow a signed detour around the closure from Little Elkin Church Road to Luffman Road then Austin Little Mountain Road before returning to Little Elkin Church Road.
