BEAUFORT – The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to close a section of Live Oak Street (U.S. 70 Business) beginning next week.
Starting June 1, both directions of Live Oak Street will close from Center Street to Crescent Drive while crews perform roadway work to install a sanitary sewer line, storm drain, new ditches, curb and gutters, sidewalks and asphalt.
This work is part of the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Live Oak Street and N.C. 101 to enhance mobility and safety in the area. The road is expected to reopen in mid-September.
Traffic should detour via N.C. 101 and U.S. 70. No through traffic will be permitted on Campen Road or Carraway Drive. Motorists should use caution when traveling near the area and seek alternate routes to avoid travel delays.
