U.S. 47 Closing Next Week in Davidson County

LEXINGTON - N.C. Department of Transportation crews will close N.C. 47 in Davidson County and a contractor will replace a storm drain culvert which crosses under N.C. 47.

The road will close from June 1–5 between Cotton Grove Road and Old Mountain Road.

The structural integrity of the current drainpipe is insufficient. Stormwater runoff is not passing under the road correctly because the current pipe has deteriorated with age.

Drivers will detour to N.C. 47 to N.C. 8 to I-85 to Old Highway 64 to Becks Church Road and back to N.C. 4.

The $50,000 contract for the project has been awarded to Newsom Grading of Lexington, N.C.

Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through work zones.
