WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH – The N.C. Department of Transportation will conduct nightly lane closures on a portion of Causeway Drive (U.S. 76) over Banks Channel beginning next week.
As part of the Wrightsville Beach bridge replacement project, contract crews will perform drilling operations through the bridge deck for testing beginning June 1. This work will require nightly lane closures on the Causeway Drive bridge located between North Channel Drive and Waynick Boulevard.
Lane closures will be in place nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday. During this time, crews will close both eastbound lanes and convert the two westbound lanes into a single lane in each direction. Lane closures are performed overnight between Memorial Day and Labor Day to minimize disruptions during peak travel times.
Work is expected to be complete on June 26, weather permitting.
Drivers should use caution when crossing the bridge, allow extra travel time and follow all posted signage.
