NCDOT Opens Mooresville Bridge to Traffic

Linwood Road reopened to traffic last week after crews finished replacing the bridge over Coddle Creek.

MOORESVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation opened an Iredell County bridge last week after eight months of construction.

Crews from R.E. Burns and Sons Co. Inc., of Statesville, began replacing the bridge on Linwood Road over Coddle Creek in November.

The $1.7 million project replaced the 48-year-old bridge with a new structure built to modern standards, including wider lanes.

While the bridge has opened, contract crews may return to the site through the summer and fall to finish establishing permanent vegetation and continue erosion control efforts.

Drivers should always pay attention behind the wheel, obey all posted signs and avoid distractions.
