NCDMV Document Upload Tool
The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles launched a new in-office document upload tool that allows customers to securely send proof of insurance, phone bills, leases and teen driver logs. Instead of being turned away or looking for a nearby printer, customers can now securely upload eligible documents during their visit right from their phone.
In its first two weeks of service, customers uploaded nearly 6,000 documents using the new tool.
This new feature is one more way NCDMV is working to reduce wait times, prevent repeat visits, and improve customer experience.

Traffic Safety Conference
Traffic safety professionals from North Carolina continue to strengthen partnerships and advance efforts to reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries across the state.
Law enforcement and transportation officials, emergency responders, and safety advocates gathered in Winston-Salem this week for the 2026 NC Traffic Safety Conference.
The event brings these groups together to focus on their shared goals of traffic safety education, enforcement strategies, research, and new technologies.
90-Year-Old Recalls Construction of Original I-40
A man who helped build Interstate 40 through the Pigeon River Gorge more than 60 years ago is now watching crews rebuild the interstate where it was damaged by Hurricane Helene.
David Noland worked on the original construction of the interstate through the mountains in the 1960s.
It was a project that transformed travel through western North Carolina. But in 2024, Hurricane Helene destroyed parts of the eastbound lanes and shut down the corridor for months.
Now, crews are rebuilding the roadway stronger than before using modern equipment and engineering.
Hurricane Season Begins
Hurricane season is officially underway and runs through Nov. 30. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted a below normal 2026 hurricane season.
Forecasters are predicting a total of eight to 14 named storms, three to six of which are forecasted to become hurricanes, including as many as three major hurricanes.
