ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency (LPA) in Havelock will indefinitely close at 5 p.m. on June 16 after the current operator announced her retirement.
The agency, at 319 W. Main St., at the Havelock Shopping Center, in Havelock, has been owned and operated by Anna Mae Gibson since 1998. A new contractor has been selected for this agency and will reopen the office on a later date at the same location.
In the meantime, three nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday except for state holidays:
• Morehead City, 3025-H Bridges St. (Plaza West Shops) 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Maysville, 404 Main St. (Maysville Town Hall) 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
• New Bern, 2505 Neuse Blvd. (Town Park Plaza) 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 132 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.
