Overnight Ramp Closure Planned for Hampstead Bypass

HAMPSTEAD – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close an exit ramp on N.C. 140 Wednesday night as part of the Hampstead Bypass project.

Beginning at 8 p.m. June 17, contract crews will close Exit 23 on N.C. 140 westbound for one night to install a concrete barrier. This barrier will enhance safety by separating drivers from the active construction zone for this portion of the new Hampstead Bypass. The exit ramp is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. June 18.

Traffic on N.C. 140 westbound needing to access Military Cutoff Road should continue south on U.S. 17 toward Wilmington to the U.S. 17/Military Cutoff Road interchange.

Motorists should use caution when traveling near the area and seek alternate routes to avoid travel delays.
