The project can start as early as December 2026, with the contract calling for the new bridge to open to traffic no later December 2027. Other construction activities like landscaping and vegetation establishment can continue into spring 2028.

A signed detour will be in place along Huntersville-Concord Road, Old Statesville Road (N.C. 115) and Eastfield Road while the road is closed during the bridge replacement phase at a future date to be determined.
