MOORESBORO – Two secondary, low-volume Cleveland County roads soon will become cul-de-sacs.
With new alternative entrances already built, the accesses to Duncan Drive, East Main Street and Davis Park Family Homes from U.S. 74 will close beginning Wednesday, June 17, allowing crews to convert the roads to cul-de-sacs.
Instead of accessing the roads from U.S. 74, drivers will use the following routes:
- Duncan Drive: Follow the new extension road from North Academy Street to Duncan Drive.
- East Main Street: Take North Academy Street to East Main Street.
- Davis Park Family Homes: Take North Academy Street to East Main Street then follow the new extension road from East Main Street to Davis Park Family Homes.
These changes are part of a $53 million project to upgrade approximately 1.2 miles of U.S. 74 between Mooresboro and the Shelby Bypass.
Crews from E.S. Wagner Company LLC, of Charlotte, also will upgrade the U.S. 74 intersection with Lattimore Road and North Academy Street to an interchange over the next year, improving traffic flow and reducing potential conflict points for drivers.
