HARKERS ISLAND – N.C. Department of Transportation crews plan to close Island Road near Willis Drive to replace a failed drainage pipe.
The closure will begin July 7 at 8 a.m. The road is expected to reopen to traffic July 8 with intermittent lane closures until crews complete the work.
A detour will be in place directing motorists to use Cape Lookout Drive and Willis Drive.
Motorists are urged plan ahead, use caution in the area and obey all posted signs and be alert for crews and equipment.
