NCDOT to Inspect Several Gaston County Bridges This Weekend

GASTONIA – The N.C. Department of Transportation will inspect multiple bridges over Interstate 85 in Gaston County this weekend. 

Crews will close the left lane of I-85 North in five locations from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday to inspect bridges that carry roads over the interstate. Those areas include: 

• Edgewood Road (Exit 13) 
• S​hannon Bradley Road (just south of Exit 14) 
• N.C. 274​ (Exit 14)
• Jenkins Road​ (between mile markers 15 and 16) 
• N.C. 279 (Exit 20)
  

NCDOT inspects bridges at least every two years in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards.

Drivers should allow additional travel time, stay alert and avoid distracted driving.
