ELK PARK – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will shift traffic on an Avery County road this week to finish a bridge replacement project.
Crews from Triangle Grading & Paving Inc. will shift traffic to a temporary culvert on Curtis Creek Road over Curtis Creek on Thursday morning.
Once traffic is shifted to the temporary detour, crews will remove the existing structure and build a new timber bridge in its place. Hurricane Helene damaged the original structure.
The contract calls for construction to finish this fall.
