CONCORD – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will shift traffic to a new bridge deck on U.S. 29 North in Concord this weekend as work continues to replace two bridges on U.S. 29/601 over Irish Buffalo Creek. An $11.1 million contract was earned by Dane Construction Inc. of Mooresville in May 2023 to replace the 75-year-old structures.
The traffic shift will take place Saturday night, Aug. 8, weather permitting, and drivers should be using the new bridge deck by Sunday morning, Aug. 9. The contract calls for all traffic-related work on the project to be completed by fall 2026, with vegetation establishment continuing through spring 2027.
