BESSEMER CITY — The N.C. Department of Transportation will begin improving a Gaston County bridge next week.
Long Creek Road will close near Wandering Lane beginning Monday while crews replace beams and the bridge deck.
Drivers will follow a signed detour around the closure on Lewis Farm Road, N.C. 161 and Long Creek Road until the project is finished in about one month.
Transportation officials encourage motorists to allow additional travel time, stay alert and avoid distracted driving.
