BURLINGTON – Norfolk Southern Railroad will close several N.C. Department of Transportation roads in Alamance County next week to install new railroad tracks.
Crews may begin operations as early as 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday at railroad crossings on the following roads: Queen Ann Street, Gilmer Street, Main Street, Elmira Street, Glen Raven Road, Lakeview Drive, Gilliam Road and York Road.
Construction and detour information is available online. A contractor for Norfolk Southern will provide marked detours for each individual closure.
These railroad upgrades are part of the Carolinian and Piedmont Passenger and Freight Improvements project.
