BURLINGTON – Norfolk Southern Railway crews plans to close several roads in Alamance and Guilford counties this week to install new railroad tracks. The work is part of the Carolinian and Piedmont Passenger and Freight Improvement project.
The following roads are expected to close at the roalroad crossings for the upgrade Tuesday through Thursday, weather permitting, beginning as early as 7 a.m. The N.C. Department of Transportation is sending this notification as a courtesy.
Alamance County:
- York Road, Oak Avenue, Williamson Avenue, Church Street
Guilford County:
- Huffine Street, Springwood Avenue, Joyner Street, Power Line Road, Wagoner Road, Cullen Road, Colony Road
A contractor for Norfolk Southern will provide alternate routes and signage to inform drivers of all detours. Drivers should plan ahead for delays and follow all posted signs.
