AURORA – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close sections of N.C. 33 in Beaufort County beginning next week.
Beginning Thursday, Oct. 1, NCDOT maintenance crews will install 14 new crossline pipes along N.C. 33 between N.C. 306 north and south.
Crews will work Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, until the work is complete. The work is expected to be completed by early November.
When work is not occurring, N.C. 33 will remain open.
Motorists should detour via N.C. 306, N.C. 55, Bay City Road, Bateman Road and Idalia Road.
Drivers should use caution when traveling near the area and seek alternate routes to avoid travel delays.
