ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles' International Registration Plan (IRP) office in Raleigh has permanently closed and is moving to a new location.
North Carolina is a member of the International Registration Plan, which is a registration reciprocity agreement that provides apportioned payments of registration fees for commercial trucking carriers, based on the total distance operated in the continental United States and Canada.
The previous office at 1425 Rock Quarry Road, Suite 100, in Raleigh, permanently closed on Sept. 24. Operations will move to the new location at 3301 Terminal Drive, Suite 119, in Raleigh, which is tentatively scheduled to reopen during the week of Oct. 5. Office hours will remain Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on state holidays.
During the transition, commercial trucking customers can visit the IRP office at 6016 Brookshire Blvd. in Charlotte, which is also open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., except for state holidays. Customers can also check VisitDMV.nc.gov for updates as to when the new IRP office in Raleigh will open.
