ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles' International Registration Plan (IRP) office in Raleigh is permanently closing today and moving to a new location.
North Carolina is a member of the International Registration Plan, which is a registration reciprocity agreement that provides apportioned payments of registration fees for commercial trucking carriers, based on the total distance operated in the continental United States and Canada.
The current office at 1425 Rock Quarry Road, Suite 100, in Raleigh will permanently close at 5 p.m. today. Operations will move to the new location at 3301 Terminal Drive, Suite 119, in Raleigh, which is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Oct. 1. Office hours will remain Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on state holidays.
During the transition, commercial trucking customers can visit the IRP office at 6016 Brookshire Blvd. in Charlotte, which is also open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., except for state holidays.
