GREENVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will conduct intermittent lane closures at the intersection of 5th Street and Memorial Drive next week.
Starting Sept. 28, contract crews will begin utility relocation, drainage installation and various intersection upgrades.
During the lane closures, crews will construct an additional left-turn lane from eastbound 5th Street onto Memorial Drive, increasing queuing capacity and helping to reduce traffic delays.
Crews will work primarily during the day with occasional night work as needed to accommodate local traffic and businesses. The work is weather-dependent.
Work is expected to be completed by the summer of 2027.
Drivers should follow work zone signs, allow extra travel time and use alternate routes when possible.
