Traffic Slow Roll Planned Thursday Near Exit 25 in Asheville

ASHEVILLE – Drivers should anticipate a traffic slow roll in both directions near the Interstate 26/Broadway interchange (Exit 25) on Thursday, Oct. 1, while crews perform rock removal operations.

The slow roll is expected to begin around 11 a.m. and will temporarily slow traffic in the area while crews safely complete the work. Drivers traveling from Weaverville toward Asheville should expect brief delays and possible congestion and are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

The rock removal work is part of the I-26 Connector project and necessary for slope stabilization. Similar operations may occur with some regularity in the coming months, and any blasting will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Motorists traveling through the area should use caution, follow directions from traffic control personnel and construction crews, and consider an alternate route if possible.

The work is weather dependent and may be adjusted if conditions are not suitable.
