Resurfacing Slated for Several Cabarrus County Roads

CONCORD – The N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded a $3.3 million contract to resurface one section of N.C. 200 and eight segments of secondary roads throughout Cabarrus County. Albemarle contractor NJR Group, Inc., can start as early as this month.

The project includes milling, patching, resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, installing rumble strips and pavement markings to these roads:

  • N.C. 200 between the Stanly County line and U.S. 601 in Concord
  • Cabarrus Avenue W. between Powder Street and U.S. 601 in Concord
  • Bethel School Road from N.C. 24/27 to U.S. 601 in Midland
  • Old Camden Road from N.C. 24/27 to the railroad tracks in Midland
  • St. John's Church Road from N.C. 73 to Gold Hill Road in Concord
  • Skyland Drive from N.C. 73 to N.C. 49 in Mt. Pleasant
  • Armentrout Drive from U.S. 601 to end of the road/cul de sac in Concord
  • Commerce Drive SW between Webb Road and the end of the road/cul de sac in Concord

Crews have until the spring of 2028 to complete the contract. Any necessary lane closures on N.C. 200 and Bethel School Road will be restricted to off-peak hours to minimize travel impacts. Lane closures on Cabarrus Avenue W. will be limited to overnight hours. The contract also calls for lane closure restrictions during holiday travel periods or unexpected occurrences that could generate heavy traffic volumes.
