ROCKY MOUNT – Beginning today, the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is temporarily providing services to its International Registration Plan (IRP) commercial trucking carrier customers at the Raleigh Central Services License Plate Agency.
North Carolina is a member of the International Registration Plan, which is a registration reciprocity agreement that provides apportioned payments of registration fees for commercial trucking carriers, based on the total distance operated in the continental United States and Canada.
IRP staff at the Raleigh Central Services License Plate Agency (LPA), located at 4121 New Bern Ave., Suite 151, at the Wilder’s Grove Shopping Center, will temporarily provide services to customers Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., except for state holidays.
This temporary location cannot accept original Form 2290 filings or check payments for submission to the Internal Revenue Service. Customers needing to update their Form 2290 filing are required to bring a copy of Form 2290 already filed and stamped by the IRS.
All other services will be provided by IRP staff at the Raleigh Central Services LPA, including new IRP accounts, IRP renewals, adding or removing vehicles from a fleet, replacing a plate, changing weight or insurance, and adding equipment.
The only forms of payment for IRP services accepted at the Raleigh Central Services LPA are by check or money order.
The previous office, at 1425 Rock Quarry Rd., Suite 100, in Raleigh, closed on Sept. 24. The new office at 3301 Terminal Dr., Suite 119, will open on a date to be determined.
Commercial trucking carrier customers can also visit the IRP office at 6016 Brookshire Blvd. in Charlotte.
