NCDOT Awards Contract for I-40 Rehabilitation

RALEIGH – Commuters can look forward to a smoother ride along Interstate 40 in Durham and Wake counties, thanks to a $21 million pavement rehabilitation project recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Blythe Construction Inc. will upgrade a 9.4‑mile section of I‑40 between east of Interstate 885/N.C. 885 and Wade Avenue with a more extensive rehabilitation treatment designed to strengthen the roadway and extend its service life beyond a typical resurfacing project.

Construction is expected to begin later this fall, with the project substantially complete by late 2028.
