I-26 East Lane Closure Coming for Utility Line Removal

SALUDA – The N.C. Department of Transportation will provide a local utility crew safe operating space to remove a temporary cable line by closing one lane of Interstate 26 East next Wednesday and Thursday.

An NCDOT contractor will install lane closures from Ozone Drive (Exit 59) to Columbus (Exit 67) starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The closure will remain in place until the operation is complete the next afternoon.

The operation involves removing a temporary utility cable line that was placed alongside I-26 East to replace the cable damaged by Hurricane Helene. The lane closure allows crews from M.C. Communications to safely work on the shoulder and guardrail to remove the temporary line.

Transportation officials remind drivers to plan ahead, remain alert, and obey all posted signs traffic signs for the safety of motorists and workers.
