NCDOT Awards $40 Million Rogers Road Bridge Project

RALEIGH – Drivers in Wake Forest will eventually no longer have to wait for trains to pass on Rogers Road, as the N.C. Department of Transportation is moving forward with a $40 million project to build a bridge over the CSX railroad tracks.

NCDOT has awarded the contract to Blythe Construction Inc. of Charlotte. The project will replace the existing at-grade railroad crossing with a bridge at the same location. Heritage Branch Road will be rerouted to connect with Capital Creek Drive, about a quarter mile east of the current intersection.

The project includes widening, grading, drainage, paving, traffic signals and structures to improve the roadway and support the new bridge.

Construction could begin as early as Nov. 30, with the project expected to be substantially complete and open to traffic by fall 2030.
