Traffic Shift Upcoming for Wake County Road

GARNER – Drivers traveling Old Stage Road near Rock Service Station Road will see a traffic pattern change Friday night as contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation move traffic onto the newly constructed section of roadway.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, crews will activate the new traffic signal at the Old Stage Road and Rock Service Station Road intersection and shift traffic from the intersection to Rolling Meadows Drive. Work will wrap up Saturday by 6 a.m. with the traffic shift fully in place.

Currently traffic travels on the existing roadway, which will eventually serve southbound drivers, while crews constructed the new roadway for future northbound traffic.

This traffic shift will move drivers onto the newly constructed future northbound lanes. This will allow crews to continue construction on the existing roadway as they prepare it for future southbound traffic.

Drivers should use caution when traveling through the work zone, follow posted signs and pavement markings, and watch for changing traffic patterns as crews continue construction.

All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
