Lane Closures, Traffic Shift Set for I-77 Near N.C. 150 in Iredell County

MOORESVILLE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue construction operations on a new N.C. 150 bridge over Interstate 77 next week.

Crews from Blythe Development will install temporary single lane closures on I-77 near N.C. 150 beginning Monday to allow crews to install a new safety barrier wall and pavement markings.

Once those are installed, traffic will shift from the median to the outside lanes while crews begin building interior bridge bents.

The closures are part of a $249 million project to improve the I-77/N.C. 150 interchange and widen N.C. 150 from N.C. 16 in Catawba County to the U.S. 21/N.C. 150 interchange in Mooresville. The improvements will accommodate growing traffic volumes and ease congestion.

Construction began last year with storm drainage upgrades, utility installation and traffic signal relocation. Bridge construction will be broken into multiple phases, and traffic will be maintained on the existing lanes of N.C. 150 at all times.

Motorists are encouraged to pay close attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
