BEAUFORT – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a Carteret County road for maintenance next week.
Beginning April 7, a section of Merrimon Road near U.S. 70 will be closed while crews replace a storm drainage crossline pipe. The road is expected to reopen April 9 with intermittent lane closures.
Traffic should detour via U.S. 70 to N.C. 101 to Laurel Road to Merrimon Road.
This work is weather-dependent and could be rescheduled. Drivers should use caution when traveling near the area and seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
