HAMPSTEAD – Contractors for a development company will close part of a state-maintained road in Pender County this weekend.
Beginning Sept. 11 at 9 a.m., contract crews for Hawthorne at Headwaters will close the intersection of Hughes Road and Center Drive to replace a culvert.
The intersection is expected to re-open on or before 6 a.m. Sept. 14 to minimize disruptions to weekday traffic. This work is weather-dependent and could be rescheduled.
Motorists can detour via U.S. 17, Washington Acres Road, Circle Drive and Hughes Road.
Drivers should use caution when traveling near the area and seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
