NORTH WILKESBORO — An innovative proposal by the N.C. Department to
reduce crashes and increase safety on U.S. 601 in Yadkinville will be presented
at a public meeting Thursday, March 1.
The purpose of the proposed project is to improve mobility and
safety on U.S. 601. The initial proposal includes constructing medians and
roundabouts, which would eliminate T-bone crashes, reduce stopping time and
enhance the appearance of the main entrance to Yadkinville. The project has been
supported since its inception by city and county officials. Information and
materials will be posted on the NCDOT website as they become available at
www.ncdot.gov/projects/publicmeetings.
Citizens are invited to the meeting from 4-7 p.m. at Yadkinville
Elementary School, 305 North State Street. Transportation officials will be
available to answer questions and receive comments.
Comments and questions are a critical part of project development
and refining the proposal. Comments made by March 30 will be considered as a
final decision is being made.
