ARCHER LODGE – To boost safety and improve mobility, the
N.C. Department of Transportation proposes adding a center turn lane to a
1.5-mile section of Covered Bridge Road in the town of Archer Lodge.
Under the proposal, NCDOT also would modify some of the intersections on this
stretch of roadway northeast of Clayton. Traffic is projected to grow from
10,000 vehicles a day to more than 18,000 by 2040.
Interested citizens can learn more about the proposal and ask NCDOT
representatives questions at an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 14,
at the Archer Lodge Community Center, 14009 Buffalo Road.
Comments on the preliminary design also will be accepted by phone, email or
mail through May 29.
