Pipe Replacement Work Will Detour Drivers Monday in Alamance County

SAXAPAHAW β€“ N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance crews will close a portion of East Greensboro Chapel Hill Road while they replace a 72-inch pipe with an 84-inch corrugated metal pipe that crosses underneath the roadway just south west of Saxapahaw.

β€œThe larger pipe is needed to help improve drainage in the area,” said NCDOT Bridge Maintenance Supervisor Ken Groce.

Crews will close the road at 6 a.m. on Monday, May 7. Weather permitting; it will reopen at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 18.

Drivers will be able to detour using Holman Mill Road and Snow Camp Road around the closure.

Transportation officials advise drivers to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
