Closure to last up to four months
ROSEBORO — A N.C. Department of Transportation contractor began connecting the new N.C. 24 Bypass to the existing N.C. 24 eastbound lanes in Sampson County, on Thursday, April 19.
The work necessitated the total closure of N.C. 24 from approximately Dowdy Road to Underwood Road. The closure is expected to last until late August.
“The new connection will provide a safer and smoother transition for the numerous motorists that use the N.C. 24 Bypass each day,” says Nathan Tew, NCDOT assistant resident engineer.
Drivers are urged to use the following detours: For west Roseboro traffic heading east, follow N.C. 24 Bypass to Old Brick Mill Road, then turn right to access N.C. 24. For drivers traveling west from east Roseboro, take the N.C. 24 Bypass to the N.C. 242/Salemburg Highway ramp, and turn left onto N.C. 242 to return to N.C. 24.
“We ask drivers to please use caution, expect delays and pay attention to the signs when traveling through the detour,” says Tew.
