THOMASVILLE — Tickets are on sale now
for people who wish to take a special train ride to the Thomasville Memorial Day
Parade and Celebration on May 28.
The Piedmont and Carolinian
trains will make special stops in Thomasville on May 28 so people can
experience the Southeast’s largest Memorial Day parade, which is part of the
town’s celebration honoring the women and men who died while serving in the U.S.
military.
Trains departing from Charlotte (and those from
High Point, Salisbury and Kannapolis) will run on the
following schedule:
- Train 80 departs Charlotte at 7 a.m. and
arrives in Thomasville at 8:10 a.m.
- Train 75 departs Thomasville at 1:45 p.m. and
arrives in Charlotte at 3:04 p.m.
Trains departing from Raleigh (and those from Cary, Durham, Burlington and Greensboro)
will run on the following schedule:
- Train 73 departs Raleigh at 6:45 a.m. and
arrives in Thomasville at 8:45 a.m.
- Train 74 departs Thomasville at 1:13 p.m. and
arrives in Raleigh at 3:21 p.m.
The parade is at 10 a.m. and starts at The Big Chair, a large
replica of a Duncan Phyfe armchair that sits on the corner of Main Street and
Salem Street in Thomasville. Military vehicles and equipment, along with
veteran’s groups, will be part of a procession that moves through the town to
Memorial Park and Cushwa Stadium. For more information, visit the festival’s event
