NORTH WILKESBORO — Water will flow better under N.C. 268 in Caldwell County
after a pipe replacement project slated to start Monday, March 5.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a short section of
the highway in Caldwell County between the north and south connecting ends of
Laytown Road, southwest of Ferguson, to improve runoff drainage.
It may take up to two weeks to conclude the operation, depending on
weather.
A marked detour of 4.2 miles will direct traffic around the project
on Laytown Road in both directions.
Drivers are urged to obey all posted signs, slow down in work
zones, and follow the marked detour.
