East Franklin Boulevard (U.S. 29) Improvements

​​​​​STIP Number U-6043

​The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to improve 0.76 miles of East Franklin Boulevard (U.S. 29/U.S. 74) from east of Cox Road/Armstrong Park Road to just east of Lineberger Road in Gaston County.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Widening the eastbound travel lanes from two to three lanes (the westbound lanes will remain unchanged)

  • Addition of a 5-foot sidewalk along the southside of East Franklin Boulevard

​Due to COVID-19, NCDOT will not host an in-person public meeting for this project. However, the public is invited to visit NCDOT's public input portal​​​ and submit comments.
