The proposed Bridges Street Improvements project by the N.C. Department of Transportation includes a 4-lane, median-divided facility with curb and gutter. To accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists, the proposed project includes sidewalks on both sides (subject to a municipal agreement) and wide outside travel lanes. A grade-separated railroad crossing would also be constructed as part of the proposed project.
