Stallings Area Project Revisions
The N.C. Department of Transportation has coordinated with town staff and elected officials since 2018 to address concerns with the design of Old Monroe Road through town and particularly the intersection of Stallings and Potter Roads. The resulting quadrant left design will better suite the local community while still accommodating overall traffic needs.
Indian Trail Area Project Revisions
NCDOT has coordinated with town staff and elected officials since 2020 to address concerns with the design of the Sun Valley Shopping Center area, particularly at the Publix driveway exit/entrance on Old Charlotte Highway. The proposed roundabout design will improve local mobility and connectivity while still accommodating overall traffic needs. NCDOT representatives will provide an update in February 2023 on the project’s impacts within the town limits.
Matthews Area Project Update Meeting
NCDOT held a meeting on July 31, 2017, in Matthews. NCDOT representatives provided an update on the portion of the project within the town. The public had the opportunity to give feedback on the project until Aug. 15, 2017.
Other Public Meetings
In August 2013, the NCDOT project team held a three-day planning event, known as a design charrette, to seek input on the design options that would be considered for the project. Stakeholders from Matthews, Stallings and Indian Trail attended to express opinions on how the corridor should look and function.
Town officials, planning/engineering department staffs, and transportation representatives met at quarterly meetings and held a symposium to discuss the planning process and potential design elements.
NCDOT project team held public meetings on Jan. 21, 2014, and Oct. 11, 2016, for residents to learn more about the project and to give feedback.
