The N.C. Department of Transportation completed improvements to the Market Street corridor in New Hanover County to improve traffic and safety. Work involved extending Military Cutoff Road in Wilmington from Market Street (U.S. 17 Business) to N.C. 140, which was formerly referred to as the Wilmington Bypass. The extension opened to traffic on Sept. 28, 2023.
